Our Green Practices
Recycling & Organic Waste
Inside your studio, you’ll find clear instructions for separating organic waste and recyclable materials such as glass, paper, and aluminium. We personally deliver all recyclable items to certified facilities in Heraklion, while organic waste is transformed into natural fertilizers or animal feed.
Local, Eco-Friendly Toiletries
The toiletries we provide are produced in Crete using eco-friendly methods. All packaging is returned to the company for reuse, helping reduce waste even further.
Water Conservation
We have installed water-saving systems that minimise consumption without compromising your comfort. Our tap water is fully filtered and safe to drink—feel free to refill your reusable bottle during your stay, as we do not use plastic water bottles on our premises.
Energy Efficiency
Our studios have been renovated to naturally stay cool in summer and warm in winter, reducing the need for excessive energy use. In addition, the A/C operates only when all windows and exterior doors are closed, ensuring energy isn’t wasted.
Supporting Local Producers
Any products we offer you—such as olive oil or fresh fruit—come directly from local farmers and producers we trust.
Thoughtful Linen Care
Bedsheets and towels are changed upon request. This practice significantly reduces water and energy consumption while still ensuring your comfort.
Eco-Friendly Cleaning
We use environmentally safe cleaning products throughout our studios and can provide eco-friendly laundry detergent upon request.

Bike Friendly
At Kapetánissa Concept Studios, we invite our guests not only to stay, but to explore Crete on two wheels. Cycling through the surrounding landscapes offers a unique way to experience the authentic character of the area, from coastal routes with sea views to scenic countryside roads.
It is an immersive journey that brings you closer to local culture, hidden corners, and the rhythm of everyday life. At the same time, cycling enhances your wellbeing, allowing you to enjoy gentle physical activity while breathing in the fresh Cretan air and soaking up the natural light, creating a balanced and truly rejuvenating holiday experience during your stay with us. We provide our guests with helpful information on local bike routes, support with bike rentals and servicing through our trusted local partner, and can connect you with organised bike tours led by experienced local guides.
For your convenience, we offer a secure outdoor bicycle rack, and bikes can also be stored inside the studios if you prefer.
Recommended Cycling Routes Starting from Stalis
- 1. Stalis – Mochos – Krasi – Malia Loop – A scenic loop through inland Crete, passing the inland villages of Mochos and Krasi before returning via coastal Malia.
- 2. Stalis Extended Road Loop – A longer coastal & inland loop heading west and south from Stalis on quiet roads and tracks.
- 3. Stalis Coastal Route – A moderate coastal bike circuit from Stalis to Anissaras.
- 4. Stalis – Sissi Ride – A pleasant ride to the coastal village of Sissi.
- 5. Stalis – Malia – Latsida – Milatos Circuit – A comfortable route connecting Stalis with Malia and Milatos countryside.
- 6. Stalis – Lasithi Plateau – Mochos village – A bike tour following the road to Neapoli, all the way uphill to Lasithi Plateau and down the road to Krasi and Mochos.
- 7. Stalis – Analipsi Countryside Tour – A scenic inland and village route towards the neighbouring settlement of Analipsi.
- 8. Stalis – Sisi – Milatos Cave – A pleasant route connecting coastal Stalis with Sisi, Milatos village and Milatos Cave above.
- 9. Stalis – Lasithi Plateau Tour – A sporty ride involving longer stretches and elevation change for cyclists seeking a challenge.
